ETU National Conference 2025

From March 30th to April 1st, the ETU held its National Conference for 2025. So much knowledge and wisdom and power from our delegates and officials – strategizing solutions for our future. Planning for the defence and progression of our trades. Planning to fight and planning to win.

Members, Delegates and Officials met in industry streams including, Future Energy, Lifts, Lines-workers and The Electrician Occupation to plan for their industries’ future and to discuss the challenges facing electrical and power workers across the country.

It was great to hear from all the Branches on how they are winning better for our trade, why it’s crucial the ETU keeps up the fight and the importance of holding employers and governments to account to ensure ETU members can secure the working future they deserve.

We heard from international comrades on the fights going on globally, and the ETU stands shoulder to shoulder in solidarity with all unionists doing it tough against anti-union and anti-worker administrations. Jonas Eriksson from the Swedish Electrical Union soke to conference about their fight against a right-wing Government and the action they’re taking ton fight back against anti-union policies and employers. And we heard from BWI Asia Pacific representative, Apolinar Tolentino on the struggle of workers and unionists in Myanmar. And the need for global solidarity now and always. The conference showed their unwavering support for workers across the world.

ETU members also reinforced their support for the CFMEU and once again condemned the forced administration of the CFMEU by the Federal Government.

At conference, ETU Qld apprentice Liam Reichman was awarded the Apprentice of the Year. Congratulations Liam! All the finalists were amazing, and it was such a testament to how fantastic ETU apprentices are – the future looks bright with ETU apprentices lighting the way. And congratulations to outgoing ETU Apprentice of the Year, Zahn Anthony for all her hard work and commitment.

Thank you to all conference sponsors for their support and input.

Congratulations to all the delegates for their participation, passion and power.

When we fight, we win. There is power in our union.
