There is no industry where opportunities are evolving as rapidly as the energy industry and more specifically the electrical industry.
As Australia continues to transition to new energy systems, we are seeing more and more opportunities for electrical workers to be at the cutting edge of technology and to become proficient in some of the most advanced energy systems available.
Projects coming online are transforming entire communities and represent a tangible way to combat climate change. This generation of school leavers must be told, if they want to save the planet, they should do a trade.
In this year’s Federal Budget, the Government has committed millions in funding to campaigns to promote clean energy trades to school leavers, so that we can grow the clean energy workforce and get greater diversity in who comes into the electrical trades.
ETU members know how crucial our trade is to helping Australia reach its clean energy targets in 2030 and 2050. And with a current shortfall of 32,000 electricians for the number of electricians needed by 2030, this commitment by the Federal Government shows they are listening to the calls from ETU members asking for more investment and funding for the energy transition.
